Welcome to the second page of the Year 1 Modern Myth Project, where we explore group formation and manipulation. We want to establish a better understanding of the basis of believing in myths and how bubbles are formed. We further illustrate this by showing ways we trick ourselves and are influenced by the media; thus, the internal and external effects.
Enjoy!

To understand where myths are coming from, we have to start at the beginning. Other than most animals, humans have a very advanced ability for imitation.
In the podcast we go from human genetics to the establishment of individual identity. The info graphic that follows is a guide to myth emergence to give an overview of what was said in the podcast and to make a connection with the rest of this project.
Enjoy listening!

Welcome to the second step!
In this step, you'll learn more about cults: how they attract people, how they brainwash people and why it is hard to leave. Later on, there will be a short explanation on why we want to believe in certain stories. We end with a TedTalk of Diane Benscoter. She was in a cult for sometime and has an interesting view on how toxic ideas spread.
In the end, I hope that your understanding of cults and more specifically the way in which they operate will be improved.
In this step, you'll listen to the first part of the podcast about cults and group formation. So grab a cup of tea, get comfortable and enjoy listening!
